John C. Shepherd, an old and honored citizen, died Saturday night late at his home on south Elm Street. He had been in feeble health for several years and bedfast for a few weeks. His demise was due to Brights disease. Mr. Shepherd was born in Kentucky 74 years ago and came to Crawfordsville in early life. He belonged to the Christian Church and was a good citizen. The wife and one daughter survive. The funeral was conducted at the home this afternoon by Rev. Cox. The burial took place at Oak Hill. - transcribed by kbz

John Shepherd, aged seventy four years, died Saturday night at half past nine o’clock at his home in Highland. He had been in feeble health for some time and his demise was not unexpected. The funeral took place last Monday at two o’clock, Rev. Cox officiating. The interment was at Oak Hill.

Mr. Shepherd had been a resident of Montgomery County for seventy two years, and at one time was a farmer near Parkersburg. He had lived in Crawfordsville for many years, however, and was well known here as a good man. He leaves a wife and one grown daughter. -s
